| Where rich
people in Latvia spend the money? "Of course not in charity and poor people!", she says, perhaps avaricious as a closed hand, meaning. In 2005 Espen Rasmussen (Norway) photographed in Cesis region poor people. In 2008 I went to the same places following his steps to find them again and know how their lifes changed. After many days of research and many kilometers by difficult off roads we found some of them living in the same or worst conditions. No many changes in their lifes. Martin a child with brain cancer is dead and the sisters from Vaive don't have home again. Above is Andris Liepins that lives in a poor remote area of the countryside in Cesis Rajons (There is many oher regions in the country where the people don't have enough to live). Time ago he has a accident and lost the two legs. Anybody helps to him except Brigitte, his charitable neighbor and poor as well. The familiy of Brigitte they have not been visiting her for two years. They need humanitarian aid like other thousands in Latvia. Old age people and others without enough funds live in very hard conditions with low pensions and few human social assistance. Inflation is high and poverty is everyday more and more. ***This project is a work in progress to made a book and exhibition in cooperation with Youth Red Cross Latvia and Red Cross Cesis branch. All donations from this project will go to YRCL to investment in pooverty areas and projects***.
