FINLANDIA-2007

FINLANDIA-2007 is the final result of
a process begun in April,
2006 (1.002 Km walking in autonomy in the stadium
Gregorio
Perez Rivera of Lugo) and June, 2006 (1.000
kilometres
I rowing in the Miño river, also in
autonomy,
loading
with the food, the equipment and the water) in that the adventurer and
sportsman from Lugo (Galicia) Jesus García Juanes will touch the
world absolute record of speed daily average in
polar voyage
without mechanical means. The above
mentioned record it has the explorer Ramon
Hernando de Larramendi, that got in the
year 2002 crossing the polar cap of Greenland of south to
north with a
polar catamarán thrown(shot) by big comets. The
daily average
remained established in 72,5 Km and in the test three
members of an expedition took part. García Juanes tries to beat in solitarily and
without help of the wind. The chosen way is the bicycle with
back tire of nails and front ski in a scene of 1.200 kilometres of lakes and frozen
interconnected rivers some with others in Finland, where the
temperatures can come to the-30 º C. The
voyage begins in Lappeenranta and ends in the lake Inari,
300 Km over the
Polar Circle The Arctic. Of Oulu to Kemi
there will cross more
than 100 Km in the banquisa of Botnia's
gulf. The chosen tour
can
be modified depending on the effects of the
climatic change,
phenomenon that García Juanes tries to denounce with his
adventure. He does not discard to do the voyage bordering on the whole
Gulf of Bothnia or realizing a tour in the shape of star, with
exit and arrive always in the same point.
Dates
The
sports test will take
place from the 4th to March
20, 2007, dates chosen depending on a series between
factors that affect in the final result of the proof: temperature,
hours
of light, etc. The same one will last a minimum of 12 days and
a maximum of 16. In February it implies major thickness of the cap of
ice and, therefore, major speed and safety, but on
the other hand with lower temperatures
and fewer hours, very necessary of solar light
to advance when it allows the good time.
Objectives
The
objectives of the honest proof are three. The first one is sports and
is defined in the initial paragraph of the memory. The second
objective is
scientific. The
medical - physiological results obtained in the proof
will be published in the magazine of the Spanish Society of
Medicine and Aid in
Mountain and will be read in the Congress of the Society who
will take
place in Madrid in the year 2008. The third one is informative and divulgative. For
years the banquisa and the glaciers lose volume of alarming form
due to the climatic change. The author ta was a witness of
the above mentioned process in the Aconcagua and the Kilimanjaro. The audio-visual one realized
in Finland will appear in several colleges of Lugo.
